A Signature Bushcamp.

Set beneath a magnificent grove of mahogany trees in South Luangwa National Park, Bilimungwe overlooks a permanent waterhole that attracts wildlife throughout the day. Four thatched chalets are raised on wooden decks beneath the shady canopy, offering views of the waterhole where elephants, antelope, and other animals frequently gather. With its tranquil woodland setting just a stone’s throw from the Luangwa River and exceptional wildlife viewing from camp, Bilimungwe offers a signature Luangwa bushcamp experience and remains one of our most popular camps.

Experiences.

Elephants in Reception

Each year, between late October and mid-December, entire elephant families wander through Mfuwe Lodge’s reception to feast on fallen wild mangoes—a spectacle so iconic it’s become legend.

Game Drives

Explore the rich diversity and incredible wildlife of the South Luangwa on a game drive. On four wheels, you’ll cover as much of the region as possible and maximise your game-viewing.

Walking Safaris

The walking safari was born in the South Luangwa, so it’s only fitting that many of your outings will be on foot with the very finest guides in our exclusive 140,000 acre section of the park.

Sundowners

As the sun sinks below the horizon, there is nothing better than finding a spectacular spot in the heart of the bush for an ice-cold drink and something to nibble on.

Activities and guiding
Walking safaris, day and night drives, and sundowners on the river’s edge — led by some of the finest guides in the valley. Inter-camp walks to Chindeni and Kapamba also available.
Refined comfort
Four chalets with hand-carved local furniture, indoor and outdoor showers, solar-powered amenities, and discreet WiFi connectivity.

In Summary

Bilimungwe does not need to go looking for South Luangwa — South Luangwa comes to it. Dawn breaks over the Luangwa River from a campfire on its bank, afternoons are spent watching the parade of game that comes to drink at the waterhole the camp surrounds, and the ancient mahogany trees overhead have witnessed more extraordinary wildlife moments than most people will see in a lifetime. It consistently ranks as one of the most loved camps in the entire BCC circuit — and once you have been, you will understand exactly why.
