THE
LUANGWA ENCOUNTER
Mobile safaris have long been an exciting way to relive the
past, a way to follow in the footsteps of the great explorers,
a chance to walk as primitive man did, among the untouched
earth, in amongst the last of the great bastions of wildlife.
|
|
|
The Bushcamp Company
offers adventurers one of the
largest surviving venues to relive the past solitude and grace of
unchanged Africa and a chance to view and experience the bush in its most untouched and virginal
forms.
|
| We
have decided to take the concept one step
further, offering adventurers the thrill of a walking safari, combined
with the remote luxury of three small exclusive bush camps.
The Bushcamp Company's high standards and personal attention to
detail make each camp an individual luxury for the traveller. |

|
|
The combination of the adventure of walking, coupled with the opportunity to spoil yourself
with hot refreshing showers and exceptional hospitality at each camp
makes this the ultimate safari experience.
|
|
As your steps carry you through the wilderness during a 9 day/8
night mobile you will spend evenings relaxing in style. |
| THE
LUANGWA ENCOUNTER
- Itinerary
|
Day 1
Arrive in Lusaka or Lilongwe airports - a representative from the
charter company will meet you and transfer you onto a light aircraft
to Mfuwe International Airport, where a representative from the Bushcamp
Company or Mfuwe Lodge will meet you and take you in an open
landrover back to Mfuwe Lodge. |
|
Mfuwe Lodge is a luxurious Lodge situated INSIDE the South Luangwa
National Park, Zambia. It is one of only 2 permanent lodges
inside the National
Park. The Lodge is open 12 months of the year and is
surrounded by an excellent all weather road network, which allows
for extensive game viewing by vehicle. Night drive, dinner and
overnight at Mfuwe Lodge. |

|
Day 2 and 3
The next morning, road transfer to Chamilandu. Spend the first
2 nights of your Luangwa Encounter, at Chamilandu exploring the
ebony groves and ox bow lagoons. Chamilandu Bush camp offers
the connoisseur comfort class and beauty in one of the Luangwa's
prime river venues. |
|
Chamilandu
Bushcamp has a 180° open vista and the front of each tree house chalet provides
the exciting frame for all of Luangwa Valleys diversity.
Subtle décor adorns the 2m high tree houses. The tasteful
blend of wrought iron and brass offsets the cream and pastels that
welcome you to rest and relax. |

|
|
A series of seven ox-bow lagoons yield dramatic habitat changes and
attract an abundance of wildlife |
Day 4 and 5
After an early breakfast at Chamilandu, set off on your walking
trail to Chindeni, arriving in time for a hearty brunch. |
|
At Chindeni
bushcamp you will spend 2 nights viewing the game from your own private
raised wooden decking over the still waters of the lagoon and
exploring the evergreen forests on foot. Surrounded by
majestic hills, shaded by ancient ebonies and nestled on the apex of
an ox-bow lagoon, Chindeni helps weave the spell that is Africa. |

|
|
Chindeni will stand proud in your memory as a place of magic. |
Day 6 and 7
Walking south once more, towards the confluence of the Kapamba and
Luangwa rivers, Bilimungwe bush camp holds the distinction of being
the southernmost camp in the National park. |
|
Bilimungwe
Bushcamp offers not only the solitude you have come to enjoy, but also the
ideal opportunity to discover yet another face of the Luangwa
Valley, exploring on foot or in a vehicle. The permanent water hole is a popular venue for wildlife
and the shallow clear Kapamba River offers the perfect setting to
cool down, relax and reflect on the Luangwa encounter that you have
just experienced.
|

|
Day 8
Return back by road to Mfuwe Lodge for a night relaxing in the
luxury that is renowned with Mfuwe Lodge. Mfuwe Lodge sits
